Carson Talks Due
Owls boss Paul Sturrock has confirmed he will be talking with Liverpool about the availability of the England 'keeper for the forthcoming season early this week.
The former Leeds United goalkeeper has been a top priority for Sturrock after helping the Owls secure their Championship status in a two month loan spell last season.
Sturrock told the official SWFC site: 'I will talk to Liverpool over the next couple of days to find out the situation and I hope they can mark my card either way. But I haven't left all my eggs in one basket and I will be working to bring a keeper in soon - hopefully by June 26th.'
Wednesday now have just one goalkeeper - Chris Adamson - on their books following the departure of David Lucas over the weekend, and Sturrock hopes to secure the services of a 'keeper before pre-season training begins.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has made it clear he wants Carson - currently away on World Cup duty with England - to have some first team experience before he has a chance of breaking into the first team at Anfield.
But he may want to keep him as back-up to current number one Jose Reina should Jerzy Dudek and Chris Kirkland leave for pastures new this summer.
Carson made nine appearances for the Owls during his successful loan spell at the end of last season. Wednesday lost just once in those nine games and secured their Championship status with games to spare.
