Turner: Massive Week For Wednesday

Former Wednesday player, boss and potential investor Chris Turner has revealed that this week is a 'massive' one for the club off the pitch.

Turner, who is involved with Certified Oilfield Rentals, the group looking to invest in Wednesday, has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that COR are hoping to produce funds of an initial 2 million downpayment this week.

In an interview with the Evening Post, he said: 'These are complicated negotiations and we need to come up with something this week that satisfies the club. The bank are happy with the proposals from the investors, but now they have to come through with the money and get the deal done.'

The claims won't go down too well with Wednesdayites, who have seen numerous 'deadlines' come and go in the search for much-needed investment into the club.

But Owls chairman Howard Wilkinson has stated that talks with COR, as well as other potential investors, are on-going.

COR first revealed their interest a number of weeks ago but the club is still waiting for a promised downpayment of 2m to show their commitment to a takeover of the club.

The money has yet to go into the Owls' bank though as problems continue over who, exactly, is going to pay the money initially.

I'm a very optimistic guy, but I'll believe it when I see it. I could just imagine those dolts in the Owls boardroom (Wilco and Parker excluded) finding a way to muck this one up...

would'nt it be brill to read WEDNESDAY DEAL SIGNED and all the speculation could be put to bed and both club and fans could get on with the more important things

'cautiously optimistic' doesnt fill me with confidence at all. im slightly puzzled to where this 2 million is. now they are talking about 2 new investors, whats wrong with chris turners lot? something about all this smells funny.
DEZZYP
agree DEZZYP if they want to take over do it. Why does it have to run & run somebody is keeping something quiet
vic mobley
why cant turner just come out and say the money will be in on a set date all this carry on is ridiculous bored of reading about it all false hope everytime
retfordowl1867
Turner can't give a date because the investors concerned with the take over (6 people in the COR consortium) have yet to decide how much money each of them is going to put in as individuals> see link to Daily Mail story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1323593/Howard-Wilkinson-cautiously-optimistic-15m-Sheffield-Wednesday-takeover.html

living here it looks like the takeover of Hull city will be started and finished within 10 days. C'mon Wednesday sick and tired of the lies!
eastyorksowl
although i have just sicked in my mouth a liitle bit writing this, Hull is a much better investment at the moment. Minimum number of shareholders. bungee payment's still to come. new stadium needing nothing to pay on it. longer term wednesday would be a sounder invesment but its the massive outlay at S6. COR are arguing over who pays 2 mill
