Former Owl Jeffers Aims For Jets Boost

Former Wednesday, Arsenal and Everton striker Francis Jeffers has gone on a ten-week trial with Australian club Newcastle Jets.

Jeffers was released from his contract at Hillsborough after enduring an injury-hit three years in the blue and white stripes.

And his quest to find a new club in England proved problematic, with a trial at Blackpool failing to result in a contract with the Premier League club.

It's resulted in Jeffers jetting off Down Under to have a ten-week trial to prove his worth to Newcastle Jets.

Jeffers could forge a strike partnership with Michael Bridges at the Aussie club if he's offered a deal.

lol how does that work out? he leaves wednesday and goes to my adopted 2nd team! to be fair I thought he had some bad luck with us and we certainly only saw the real player in the run up to his injury against stoke
Hirsty's Shinpads
I think you should get him on the back of your shirt mate, seems like fate!
nickswfc
what a Joke.Mind you it always happens he was S*** for us over there he will be a star lol.
garrymo
He won't get signed on unless the Aussie standard is pub like.
chapowl
its a fairly decent standard, robbie fowler is playing there this year again and gerald sibon but then so is lloyd owuso although he got dropped to adelaides youth team after scoring only one goal (a header on his debut - sound familiar?)
Hirsty's Shinpads
I've just come back from a yrs travel in australia and the league is not far off pub like!! To be fair though, it's ok but it will never get any better than it is as AFL, NRL, NRU & Cricket are always going to be ahead of it! Saying that, it probably is about Jeffers standards and they seem to know what they're doing with injury hit players at Newcastle with Bridges doing really well out there! They have two excellent young players at Newcastle who, with our supposed links in Australia, we should be looking at called Ben Kantarovski & Kaz Patafta! Paul Iffil is out there too and he is a phenomonan with Wellington Phoenix! Anywhere is better than the pigs though!!
Owls That!
Park football with money. Ten weeks, though. Jeffers can't go ten weeks uninjured. Unless he doesn't play, of course.

Hope he's taken out medical insurance lol!

If he's prepared to play out there then I think he would accept a lower salary to sign for us again. I think he could forge a good partnership with Morrison. Anyone agree?
Radon Barrier
ha, errrm....no. Thank christ he's gone. terrible.
DEZZYP
i think Morrison will come good. All he needs is good service through the midfield. As a team we have not mastered that yet.If Potter and O'conner continue in midfield roles (well its a non starter).
garrymo
Totally agree dezzy, his 3 year deal was the longest 3 years of my life!
