Mandaric Linked With Owls Investment

Mandaric Linked With Owls Investment

Current Leicester City chairman and former Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric is the latest name to be linked with a potential investment in Wednesday.

Mandaric's name was brought up by presenters on BBC Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven programme last night as the Owls continue their search for much-needed investment into the club.

It follows the news that Kevin Mundie, leading investor of oil companies' group COR, withdrew his interest in the Owls for personal reasons yesterday.

Owls chairman Howard Wilkinson has confirmed that talks are still on-going with other interested parties, with the remaining players involved in the COR deal still believed to be in advanced talks.

Mandaric is the other name to be thrown into the hat by the media following his sale of npower Championship side Leicester City to a Thai-based consortium.

He's still chairman at the Walkers Stadium club but is thought to be close to leaving the club following the takeover, with his former club Portsmouth also another possible destination.

Talking to BBC Sport recently, Mandaric said: "I'm still chairman here but there's no secret about how much I love Pompey and I think I have another round left in me.

"But committing to anything now would be wrong, for the fans here and the fans there. I will not be putting my name near any deal for a club until I'm ready."

Mandaric was linked with Wednesday before his spell with the Foxes after he sold his shares in the Fratton Park club.

Think mandaric, think portsmouth....makes our finances look great. Sacking martin allen after 4 games, straight after beating high flying watford 4-1. Then sacking ian holloway, not a bad manager in hindsight. the guys an idiot, no thanks.

blah blah blah.....

Hang on Dezzy you can hardly blame Mandaric for Pompey's situation. He got them to the Premier League and they love him down there! He's now got Sven at Leicester and no doubt they'll be up to the PL soon too.

Mandaric left Pompeys finances in a reasonably good state, it was Gaydamak that started spending against future incomes etc. Constant sacking of management is the worst thing you could say about him...and he did bring us Redknapp eventually...
04/11/2010 11:08:00
Course you can blame him, he brought all the huge wages they couldnt afford to the club then bailed out. spent well above their limit, give portsmouth the risdale treatment. He's brought sven in with somebody else's money, he sold his shares a while ago.

just bored of the whole situation why cant it just be simple and the club have a future without the financial mess just dragging out far to much now
04/11/2010 11:35:00
Gaydamak left them up sh sh%$% not Mandaric. That's why they love him down there and want him to return. He got them to the promised land. Similar with Leicester in that they went down to League 1 but they're back up and going forward with loads of cash in the bank and Sven as manager.

You know what lets not say anything,do anything, mention anything.Like me and thousands of Wednesday fans im sick to the high hilts of broken promises, people talking s**t about ploughing millions into a club when they dont have a pot to p**s in.Lets just keep quite not write anything and continue letting Howard and Nick sort this crap out, then we can all move forward i belive.Im just so unsure what the stumbling blocks are to let us move forward after years of talks with everyone.Christ look at our debt to other clubs and ill asure you we are not in the top ten.

agree with garrymo - waste of time talking about madaric just like all the other imaginary investors that have been oh so close to buying the club - Nov 17th is when we'll really know whats happening....
