Owls Draw Wrexham In Cup

Owls Draw Wrexham In Cup

The Owls have drawn League Two side Wrexham at Hillsborough in the first round of next season's Carling Cup after the draw took place at 12 noon today.

The Welsh outfit will make the trip north to Hillsborough on the week beginning Monday 21st August. Further details on the exact date and time will follow.

Paul Sturrock's first game in charge of the Owls took place at Wrexham in September 2004 where the Owls ran out impressive 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Steve Maclean, Chris Brunt and Adam Proudlock.

The last time the two teams met was the same season, when Wednesday ran out 4-0 victors in the reverse fixture in January 2005.

The Owls will be odds on to reach the second round of the competition, and Owls fans can finally look forward to next season.

The fixture list for the 2006/2007 Championship season is released by the Football League tomorrow. Find out the key fixtures on Vital Sheffield Wednesday as soon as they're available.

Sturrock will probably put a B side out, but Wrexham are in a bit of a mess arent they? Couldnt have asked for a nicer draw, really.
