Owls 06/07 Fixture List Released

The fixture list for the forthcoming 2006/2007 Championship season has been released by the Football League - and here are all the KEY dates for Wednesdayites to put in their diaries...

Opening Day:

Preston NE (A) - 05/08/06

Derbies:

Leeds United (H) - 26/08/06
(Away - 03/03/07)
Hull City (A) - 06/09/06
(Home - 01/01/07)
Barnsley (H) - 14/10/06
(Away - 30/12/06)

Boxing Day:

Stoke City (A) - 26/12/06

New Year:

Hull City (H) - 01/01/07

Former Premiership Clubs:

Sunderland (A) - 30/09/06
WBA (H) - 28/11/06
Birmingham City (H)- 16/12/06

Final Day:

Norwich City (H) - 06/05/06

The Owls will face a tough trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End for their first match of the season. PNE reached the Championship play-offs last season and will be tipped for a similar finish this time around.

The first derby match of the season comes at the end of August when Wednesday face Leeds United at Hillsborough on Saturday, 26th August.

The first South Yorkshire derby comes against Barnsley on Saturday 14th of October at Hillsborough. The return fixture comes over the Christmas period on 30th Decedmber - the final fixture of 2006.

Owls fans can look forward to a trip to Sunderland's Stadium of Light on Saturday 30th September, while a trip to Birmingham City and West Bromich Albion comes in 2007.

The Owls will hope to sign off a successful season against Nigel Worthington's Norwich City when the season closes on Sunday May 6th.

Cant wait! I feel that we will get of to starting role with PNE (good results last season 4pts) Luton - should get a least 1pt. Up the owls!

Have PNE got a new boss yet? A lot will depend on who they get in, if not. And who they keep hold of. They've already sold Davis to the Blunts! Our first two home games look OK though.

Certainly does, and although the first few fixtures may seem a bit boring, that's only because we're not scared of any of them, we can get off to a good start against them...
