Big Ron Linked With Owls Return

Former Wednesday boss 'Big' Ron Atkinson could be set for a sensational return to Hillsborough if the club gets new owners, according to reports today.

Atkinson, who led Wednesday to League Cup glory over Manchester United at Wembley in 1991, could be set for a role at the club if Spencer Fearn's consortium is successful in buying the club.

Fearn and Colin Hill are amongst the front-runners for the Owls, who are hoping to have new owners in place before Wednesday, December 1 - their next day in court.

And, after talking with Atkinson on the phone, local businessman Fearn told the Sheffield Star that 'Big Ron' is keen on the idea of becoming involved in their potential takeover of the club.

'Ron is a great bloke and one who is part of Sheffield Wednesday's history,' Feanr told the Star.

'He still loves Sheffield Wednesday and he told us in a conversation we had with him on the phone from Spain that he would like to be involved.'

Fearn and Hill are part of a number of interested parties in buying the npower League One, with Milan Manderic and former Owls director Mick Wright also reported to be interested.

Somebody needs to actually buy the club before these reports of a new board can surface, i think it would be fair to say we have heard this kind of non-sense before.

And we probably keep hearing for the next 3 weeks, I'm guessing as there are no reports that the MM deal is not going to go through, well done board/shareholders lets not sell to the only interested party that everyone know has money. It's hard supporting Wednesday.

we dont even have that long, we still have our court case on december 1st to attend. hard isnt the word, dire, frustrating and painfull pretty much sums it up.

WHe's a legend yes but why bother? Isn't signings and paying stupid and pointless wages part of the reason were in this mess? Spend the money some where else! If we ever have a take over anyway!
OWL25
its reported that fearns backer mick hill is worth 200 million which is probley more than manderic.

not sure what MM is worth but i think MH's money is probably tied up in loans and property etc, MM might have more ready cash as he's already proved to the co op. Has anybody else yet proved to the bank they have the funds??

to be fair it does not matter what an individual is worth, the amount of money they will invest is the key. I've got to say that I personally do not want mandaric to gain control. i have no doubt that if he gets control we will improve financially and get promoted but after this has been achieved he will sell the club to the highest bidder as he has done with all his previous enterprises. he certainly is not it for the long term and we may end up sold to someone good or we may get sold to a gaydamak type character
