Owls Carson Decision Imminent

Owls boss Paul Sturrock will find out whether or not he's been successful in luring young Liverpool and England goalkeeper Scott Carson to Hillsborough over the weekend.

Sturrock has said he wants to have a 'keeper in place before the start of pre-season training on Monday - and Carson is top of his list as a replacement for David Lucas who left the club last week.

Sturrock told BBC Radio Sheffield: 'We'll know over the weekend if the Carson situation will work out. But I have been spinning other plates so we have options.'

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has stalled on making a decision over the future of Carson in the last few weeks, but the Owls boss has given him a deadline so he can have a 'keeper in for the start of pre-season training.

Fulham's 32-year-old goalkeeper Tony Warner has been linked with a move to Hillsborough should Wednesday fail to agree a deal for Carson. Birmingham City's Nico Vaesen and Celtic stopper Dave Marshall have also been linked with moves to S6.

Keep your eyes on Vital Sheffield Wednesday for all the latest transfer news on Scott Carson.
