Owls Carson Interest Ended

After months of speculation, Owls boss Paul Sturrock has ended his interest in Liverpool and England goalkeeper Scott Carson.

Sturrock is a keen admirer of the former Leeds man after he helped Wednesday avoid relegation to League One with some fine displays which saw the Owls lose just one match in their final nine.

But Sturrock wants to have his new-look squad in place sooner rather than later, and has ended his interest in Carson following Liverpool's decision to delay any move for Carson until the end of July.

The Owls boss told the official SWFC site: 'We just can't take a chance on waiting and waiting and then finding out a Premiership team comes in for Scott. Then we'll be scrambling for a goalkeeper a week before the start of the season.'

Sturrock will now turn his attention to other targets, one of whom is likely to move to Hillsborough on-loan initially. Celtic stopper David Marshall is the favourite for a move south of the border, with Fulham's Tony Warner also in the running.

Sturrock continued: 'I'm dissapointed as he was a real benefit to us in the last nine games. We'd like to thank him - he will be an exceptional goalie for England and whichever club he plays for.'

I agree Ben Foster is way better then Carson.But as for Wednesday,I reckon Tony Warner would be a great signing.Want he in goal for Fulham before they got Niemi?

Yeah I'd be happy with Warner he looks good, just a bit of a step down from Carson! Oh well, we must move on now.

Watched Warner at Cardiff and he was, to be polite, a clown who lost the confidence of his defence and the crowd, looked a good shot stopper at Fulham but how many games did they win with him, I'm crossing my fingers for Marshall, oh and Carson is simply better than Foster that's why he's in Germany.
