Owls Linked With Exeter's Sercombe

Wednesday have been linked with a move for the Exeter midfielder who helped demolish the Owls in npower League One at the weekend.

Liam Sercombe, who scored and played a creative part in Exeter's 5-1 drubbing of Wednesday at St James' Park on Saturday, has emerged as a target for Owls boss Alan Irvine in January, according to reports.

Sky Sports is reporting that the 20-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at the Devon club, has attracted the interest of a number of clubs - including the Owls.

Barclays Premier League duo Fulham and Wolves, as well as Championship sides Reading and Preston, are also understood to be chasing the hot young talent.

The Grecians are keen to hold on to one of their star players, but could be forced to sell in January if the right offer comes in for the midfielder.

Make that and/or Ryan Harley. As well as some creativity in midfield we are crying out for some leaders through the spine of the team. Centre Back, in the middle of the park and up front. Hopefully the right players will be found in the transfer window and also it's about time Purse was let go.
