Owls In For Poom

Owls boss Paul Sturrock is interested in bringing Arsenal goalkeeper Mart Poom to Hillsborough after ending his interest in Liverpool's Scott Carson according to media reports.

The former Derby County stopper is rumoured to be heading Paul Sturrock's wanted list as his search for a new goalkeeper steps up a gear.

Wednesday's interest in former loanee Scott Carson was ended earlier this week after the Owls boss announced he wasn't prepared to wait for a decision from the Merseyside club.

Now it looks as though he's turned his interest to Mart Poom, who's currently third choice at Arsenal and hasn't featured for the Premiership club since his move south from Sunderland.

Former Owls loanee and wednesdayite Nicky Weaver has also been rumoured as a possible for Sturrock after dropping down the pecking order to third choice at Manchester City.

Celtic's young goalkeeper Dave Marshall has also been linked with the Owls as an alternative to Scott Carson, as has Fulham's second choice 'keeper Tony Warner.

Sturrock has already stated he wants to get a goalkeeper in place sooner or later ahead of the new campaign, so keep checking Vital Sheffield Wednesday for all the latest news.

Would be a great signin but i feel they need a much younget keeper Like Weaver.

Thank you for your input. Youth isn't so much of an issue if the keeper is a short or medium term loan. If we're buying and/or developing for the future then, for sure, it is. We just need to get this position sorted out: the club knows that, abandoning the wait for Carson and the Reds.
