Owls Enquire About St. Ledger

Wednesday have made an enquiry into the availability of Preston North End defender Sean St. Ledger.

North End boss Darren Ferguson has confirmed to the official PNE website that the Owls have made an enquiry ahead of the January transfer window.

He said: 'There's only one club enquired about him [St. Ledger] and that's Sheffield Wednesday but we're not into January yet.'

The Owls are expected to splash the cash next month as Milan Mandaric looks to help Wednesday back into the Championship after taking over at Hillsborough.

But, despite Ferguson revealing Wednesday were the only club to have enquired about the Irish defender, St. Ledger is thought to have also attracted the interest of Barclays Premier League side West Brom.

Reports are linking the Baggies with a £2m swoop for St. Ledger.

Wednesday's links with the highly-rated defender show promising signs for Owls fans for the January transfer window though, and no doubt more transfer links will surface in the coming days.
