Former Owls Boss Departs Burnley

Former Wednesday manager Brian Laws has been sacked as manager of Burnley, the Lancashire club has announced today.

Laws joined the Clarets in January after being shown the door at Hillsborough but failed to keep the club in the Barclays Premier League.

And a poor start to life back in the npower Championship has cost the former Burnley player his job at Turf Moor.

Chairman Brian Kilby told the Burnley website: 'I have telephoned Brian today and asked him to step down as manager of Burnley Football Club.'

He added: 'Everyone is naturally disappointed and frustrated that recent results have not gone as we would have hoped.'

The announcement of his appointment of the Clarets came somewhat as a shock following his departure at Hillsborough.

And Laws failed to prove his doubters wrong, with a 2-0 home defeat against Scunthorpe United, another of his former clubs, proving to be the final straw.

Gawd thank god thats over with! Now we can move on with renewed energy having had the life blood sucked out of us by Laws these past 12 months! Would be funny if the Blades got him but surely even they are not that thick ;-)
