Owls Complete Johnson Signing

Wednesday have completed their first bit of business of the January transfer window by agreeing a deal to bring Plymouth Argyle defender Reda Johnson to Hillsborough.

The 22-year-old has penned a three-and-half-year deal with Wednesday from their League One opponents for an undisclosed fee.

Argyle had been forced to cash-in on the French-born Benin international due to financial difficulties and Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has taken full advantage.

'I am delighted to bring Reda to Sheffield Wednesday. He is a young, athletic defender who I have been aware of for some time,' Irvine told the official SWFC website.

'He is composed on the ball, very strong in the air and in the tackle and has plenty of experience for a player of 22. It is no secret that we have been looking to strengthen our defence and Reda is a quality addition.

'I would like to thank Milan (Mandaric) for cutting short his holiday to help me bring Reda to Hillsborough and I am sure the reward will be some excellent performances on the pitch.'

It's understood Johnson may well be available for selection for Saturday's FA Cup trip to Bristol City, having not played for Argyle in the competition this season.

Wouldnt be a bad singing Hoskins, good age at 24 and knows were the net is.
INOUTFLS
Scunthorpe and Derby are also after Hoskins.Thinks he now as 13 goals for Bristol so far and would be a nice prospect, but we also need a good central midfielder of the john sheridan calibre who can tackle, hold a ball up and pass and also score goals.

He sounds promising. We should go for Bradley Wright Phillips and another midfielder and a full back. Hopefully we can snap up some young promising Premier League Academy players in on loan too.

if we are going to buy another striker, it needs to be somebody who can step up to the championship also, wright-phillips has proven time and again he cant do it at that level. man city youth and reserves are the team to raid, cracking academy with no chance of the first team anymore. not really over familiar with hoskins if im honest, he's been around a bit for 24 hasnt he? getting a bit of quality in the midfield is my high priority, might as well let potter and o'connor leave now and get a top notch replacement (if possible for league 1) to challenge coke and miller. im just excited to be talking about buying players for a transfer fee again.
DEZZYP
Good to see we're signing players with potential and a long term career to go instead of old 30+ players who are only going to get worse as they've already peaked.
calton1985
He looks promising and weve actually paid money for him, still cant believe it!Hope we can get another good quality defender in as that is obviously our weak area-weaver had to make numerous top class saves against Huddersfield, similar to what Lee Grant had to do last season.
