PNE's Parkin Snubs Owls For Cardiff

PNE's Parkin Snubs Owls For Cardiff

Preston North End striker Jon Parkin has snubbed a move to Wednesday to join Championship promotion hopefuls Cardiff City, according to reports.

Parkin has agreed to join the Bluebirds on a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee after North End and Cardiff agreed terms over the deal.

But, according to a report in the Sheffield Telegraph, the Owls had also agreed a deal with boss Alan Irvine's former club for the powerful striker - only for Parkin to opt for a move to Wales instead.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to Hillsborough ever since Irvine took over from Brian Laws at S6.

And, now with money to spend in the January transfer window thanks to new owner Milan Mandaric, Irvine was hoping to get his man.

But he'll have to turn his attentions elsewhere after Parkin's decision to join Cardiff.

Not that i'm that bothered but that seem's like a stupid move for a bit part striker to make with Bellamy and Boothroyd there! Clearly just hanging on the hope of promotion to the prem as he's never going to do anything there! Just another player who cares more about social status than playing regular first team footy and being paid to do something you "love"! Plus he's a striker so he'd be garbage as soon as he walked through the door at Hillsbrough!

another big lump upfront, not a bad signing but id rather have some real pace upfront rather than a big hefty bugger.

Parkin AND Mellor up front together, are you having a laugh, that would be some heavyweight partnership. I'd prefer someone with a bit of pace to stretch the opposition defence.

But wot i dont understand is every time we sign a decent goal scorer they always seem to 4get ow to score for us,then leave n cant stop scoring goals.Wish we had given Grant Holt a chance cos that man is on fire n scoring for fun.

Agree about Grant Holt at Norwich,he looks a class act and seems to score in every game for them.

I know how to stop Holt from scoring sign him, that should put a holt to his scoring, and on the beast to cardiff, well he won't get a regular game with the players they've got, and if they were to get up to the premiership he would be surplus to requirement anyway. I don't know how Cardiff do it they owe money all over the place not like us, wait for it pigforlife will probable make an appearance anytime now.
