Wednesday Target Six January Signings

Wednesday will be looking to bolster their squad with six new signings this month, according to chairman Milan Mandaric.

Mandaric spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield today and revealed that Owls boss Alan Irvine was hoping four permanent deals for players and two loan additions would be completed in the transfer window.

These deals could be on top of the signings of Reda Johnson, who has already signed for the Owls from Plymouth, and Leicester City defender Michael Morrison, who is all set to complete a move to S6.

The arrival of the duo is understood to be covered financially by the sale of Marcus Tudgay to Nottingham Forest.

Mandaric didn't give any names in his interview but said that some players on the hit-list are from the Championship and some others are from foreign leagues.

Preston North End defender Sean St. Ledger is one player who has been linked with a move to Hillsborough, but hopes of a deal there could be at an end following Darren Ferguson's departure from Deepdale.

So January is set to be a busy month for Wednesday on the transfer front, and you'll be able to view all the rumours, links and completed deals right here on Vital Wednesday.

Just read a very dodgy story about Reda Johnson being in court for false imprisonment. Basically it says he held a woman against her will ! O DEAR ! He's back in court on april 7th !
INOUTFLS
A FORMER Argyle defender sold to Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week has appeared in court charged with falsely imprisoning a woman. Reda Johnson, aged 22, pictured, who gave his address as Seymour Road, Mannamead, appeared at Trafford magistrates court in Manchester yesterday morning. He faces one charge of false imprisonment in connection with an incident on November 14 last year at a flat in Park Road, Hale. African international Johnson – who signed for Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday for an undisclosed sum – was charged on December 19 following an investigation by detectives from Greater Manchester Police. Police said they were called to the flat – which is understood to be the home of a Blackburn Rovers player – by a woman who claimed she had been kept against her will by Johnson. Police said the alleged victim – who has not been named – was uninjured in the incident. Johnson played for Argyle on November 12 against Tranmere Rovers. He entered no plea and will next appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on April 7. He was granted bail on condition that he does not contact two particular women. A spokesman for Plymouth Argyle said they were unaware of the alleged incident, Johnson's arrest or appearance in court until yesterday. The spokesman said it was inappropriate to comment further as he was "now a Sheffield Wednesday player". A spokesman for Sheffield Wednesday said the club was unaware of the matter until shortly after Johnson's court appearance.

with him just being sold to us bit of a worry but am sure this matter will be resolved

Sounds a load of crap to me, what he does on the pitch for us is all I care about. 99% of stories slappers come out with against footballers turn out to be utter crap, that said some footballers think they are above the law so who knows, fingers crossed!

Johnson must have forgot to mention to AI at his interview that he was in court the day after for holding a woman against her will ! Could only happen to us. Anyone heard anything about Kevin Phillips coming on loan?Mate mentioned it last nite, that would be very nice.

Think the Shane Lowry loan could still happen, would like to hear more noise about midfield and up front now.
