Owls Confirm Morrison Signing

Wednesday have confirmed the signing of Leicester City defender Michael Morrison for an undisclosed fee.

Morrison has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Hillsborough after completing his medical yesterday and will be allocated squad number six.

The 22-year-old follows Plymouth Argyle defender Reda Johnson to Wednesday in the space of a week as Alan Irvine's second signing of the January transfer window.

Irvine said: "He is player I have known for a long time. He is a good age at 22 and has a lot of experience for a young player.

"Michael has played mainly as a centre back but also at right back. He is a good defender who attacks the ball well, he is aggressive and mobile and a player who has excellent all-round potential."

The former Cambridge United player wanted out of Leicester after boss Sven-Goran Eriksson failed to guarantee him regular first-team football at the Walkers Stadium.

More signings are set to follow as Owls chairman Milan Mandaric helps Irvine bolster his squad for a push for promotion from League 1 this season.

Obviously building the club with younger players to hopefully become major assets in the coming years, how exiciting!! Can't wait to see who else we can bring in over the next few weeks. Is he related to Clinton ha ha, maybe a brother from a different Mother!!

You're getting a decent player here boys, I'm fairly disappointed to see him leave in honesty. Regular for us in League One in his first season from non-league football and did very well, and then again in the Championship last year. Good luck for the season.
