Irvine Pleased With 'Patient' Owls

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine was full of praise for his side as they marked his first anniversary in charge of the Owls with a 3-0 FA Cup win at Bristol City.

Second-half strikes from Gary Teale, Neil Mellor and Clinton Morrison guided Wednesday through to the fourth round in a proverbial game of two halves at Ashton Gate.

And Irvine was 'delighted' at his sides approach to the contest.

'Bristol City were the better side in the first half and I told the players at half time to relax and be patient,' he told the official SWFC website.

'We were much better in the second half and good value for the win.

'We took the goals really well and I was pleased with that performance.'

And Irvine is keen for a home draw in the next round, adding: 'I'm delighted to go into the next round. I'm told that this is the first time we've been in round four for ten years and I was surprised by that because this is far too big a club for a statistic like that.

'But we are in round four and after two away games it would be nice to get a home game at Hillsborough.'
