Owls Target Set For German Move

Wednesday target Edson Buddle, of MLS side LA Galaxy, is set to sign for German club FC Ingolstadt, according to reports in the US today.

The Owls had been looking to bolster their attacking options with the additions of David Beckham's team-mate, who was second top-scorer in the MLS last season.

But the 29-year-old is understood to be having trouble gaining a work permit to play in England, meaning he's looking to Germany to secure a move to play in Europe.

His work permit issues could mean the Owls are set to miss out on Buddle, who is out of contract at Galaxy.

And German second division side FC Ingolstadt is his reported destination.

Buddle, who netted 17 times in the MLS last season, had been on trial with Birmingham City before Christmas and Owls boss Alan Irvine confirmed his interest in the player before the start of the January transfer window.

And the experienced striker's future is set to be tied up within the next 24 hours.

Work permit problems? Sounds like Revenue and Customs is still a bit upset with us after the whole tax windup!
Colorado Owl
Heard a rumour were looking at Chris Maguire. On loan at kilmarnock from aberdeen at mo. Dont know how true just a rumour,he's a striker by the way.
INOUTFLS
Hardly a surprise, not really that bothered about this bloke to be honest. If he's not really done anything at 29 then hardly a big loss. The same with some obscure striker from scotland. If he's not good enough for a team from a mickey mouse league like aberdeen then not good enough for us. We should only be buying players better than what we have and not just to make up the numbers.
DEZZYP
Here Here DEZZYP,there seems to be alot of gud Irish players turnin up in our leagues, maybe thats worth looking into.
ollyowl70

Carbone's Padawan
Steve Mclean didn't do too bad in his first season with us, he was from the SPL. I'd welcome David Goodwille to Hillsborough too.
markjswfc
the obscure scottish scored a hat-rick on saturday.
wrighty-swfc
leigh griffiths at dundde, speedy and tricky little striker that could do a job for us, only about18-19 too so room for development.
ozzietheowl
Well at least Mandaric might be able to break our great tradition of getting decent players when they're nobody's then selling them and putting ourself back to square one. Chris Brunt, Madjid Bougherra and Poulo Di Canio to mention just a few.
calton1985
ah yes, good old "Poulo".
Carbone's Padawan
Sorry Carbone's Padawan I meant Paolo. Didn't realise this was an English lesson
calton1985
Or even an Italian lesson lol
calton1985
Yeah some top names mentioned from the past, sold for sod all and made good for other teams, all though we never signed him cantona got to be up there for one of the all time gaffs at Sheff wed. And missing out on money I always remember spurs offering us £6m for Emerson thine then the next season he goes for £2+.... Hope history never repeats itself!!!!
OWL25
sorry Calton I couldn't resist mate. ;)
Carbone's Padawan
No worries mate. I probably would have done the same.
calton1985
Not too bothered sounds average at best. I agree on the retention of players but gotta sell at the right time, we always seem to get less than a player is worth
