Aldridge To Replace Departing Owls CEO
Wednesday chief executive Nick Parker has been placed on gardening leave with immediate effect today and is set to be replaced by former Leicester City CEO Paul Aldridge.
The move is the first off-the-field change since Milan Mandaric took control of the club in December.
A role for Aldridge at Hillsborough has yet to be confirmed but reports are today suggesting that Mandaric is keen to bring him in, and a CEO role is the most likely.
Aldridge helped smooth the deal for Mandaric to buy Wednesday and has also accompanied him to matches this season.
He was also chief executive at Leicester City for a brief spell while Mandaric was chairman at the Walkers Stadium.
Parker has been given notice of a termination of his contract with the Owls and his departure is currently being finalised.
He arrived at the club with Lee Strafford in January 2009 and remained on the board at Wednesday following Mandaric's arrival.
A statement on the official SWFC website read: 'Nick Parker has been given notice of termination by Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. For the time being, he remains employed, albeit he will not be carrying out any duties for the Club.
'The Club would like to thank Nick and recognise his contribution to the business during his time here at SWFC.
'The terms of his departure are being dealt with on a professional and cordial basis.'

Probably a good move - a clean sweep through Hillsborough has long been overdue. In spite of his emotional outbursts outside of the High Court, comments from Lee Strafford suggested not all was well with Mr Parker and his support for Wednesday's future. Of course, who will ever really know?

Thanks for what hes done for us and good luck to him for the future. This is prob just a total rumour but have heard today that Adam Le Fondre has been linked with a move to Owls. Like I say was in a paper so you can believe into it what you will he he.

to be fair, he did what lee strafford failed to do, which was help the club go forward. as soon as he left the club he just seemed bitter and twisted (im not saying he wasnt right in some or more cases though). Still, this Paul Aldridge fella has worked at some decent clubs so hopefully he knows whats what. nooooo not le fondre, he's at his perfect level in league 2. i certainly wouldnt pick him over morrison or mellor and we must aim for better than those two.

Well i'm afraid if you believe everything Strafford had to say prestonowl more fool you, i say good riddance to him, he very rarely told the truth when he was chairman, what's saying he is now.

funnily enough ecco i heard the same thing re strafford the other day from someone who dealt with him at swfc, which surprised me as I thought he was straight enough but then i am a bit naive!

Regarding Parker, he has to be given some credit for the dignified way in which he conducted himself during some very difficult times. However, our main man can and will have the people around him who he wants. Thats his privelage, and he will personally pay the compensation because its his club and his money.

Whoops! I hadn't meant to start a Strafford v. Parker match. The main point I was making was glad to see the whole lot gone. They were both together at the helm for a long enough time during which things generally went from bad to worse. I don't believe anyone from Wednesday's recent past has come out of this smelling of roses. The idea that any of them "saved" the club is utter nonsense. Had Milan not come in, we would now be in administration. He "saved" us from the previous clowns at board and executive level including the two aforementioned.
