Irvine Set To Face Powell Debut

Wednesday are this weekend set to face a Charlton Athletic side buoyed by the appointment of former Addick Chris Powell as their new manager.

The Londoners have been searching for a new boss since Phil Parkinson got the boot at the start of the month - and Powell is expected to be named within the next 24 hours.

His first game is set to be up against Wednesday in a crunch League One encounter at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Wednesdayites will be hoping Powell enjoys no 'honeymoon period' in a match which could see the Owls leapfrog Charlton into the play-off spots if they run out winners.

Keith Peacock has been in caretaker control at The Valley and he could continue on Saturday with Powell sitting in the stands, although it's expected that he'll take full control of the team immediately.
