'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owls Appoint Aldridge As Vice Chairman

Wednesday have today officially named former Leicester City and Manchester City chief executive Paul Aldridge as the club's new vice chairman.

As reported yesterday on Vital Wednesday, Aldridge arrives at Hillsborough following the move yesterday to place chief executive Nick Parker on gardening leave.

Aldridge worked Mandaric at the Walkers Stadium as chief executive and also played a key role in Mandaric's takeover of the Owls last month.

'I am delighted and privileged to take the position of vice chairman at Sheffield Wednesday,' he told the official SWFC website.

'I got a genuine feel for the football club during the due diligence process and really liked what I saw.

'The chairman has big ambitions for this club as we enter into a new era and those ambitions match my own.'

Aldridge has a wealth of experience in football and has also held the chief executive role at Barclays Premier League side West Ham United.

He's been seen with Mandaric at Wednesday matches this season and has been expected to take a role at the club.

When you read some of the past deals that he's been involved in then his appointment can only be good for Wednesday and raise our profile when it comes to transfers. Why are some fans saying he's dodgy just because he was 'involved' in the Carlos Tevez transfer with West Ham?!
