Wednesday Land Carlisle's Madine

CARLISLE UNITED have announced on their official website that their star striker Gary Madine is set to join the Owls on a four and a half year contract.

Homegrown Madine has scored 13 goals for the Cumbrians this season and at 6'5 will offer the Owls a huge aerial threat.

Wednesday have yet to confirm that the deal has been completed.

Carlise director John Nixon told their website:

'We have been in discussions with Sheffield Wednesday since Thursday about Gary, and the player was keen to make the move after he had spoken to them and to those that advise him.

'He feels that it is a big club, with crowds often in the region of 15-20 thousand and moving to a club like that is a challenge he wants to take.'

Madine will not be involved in Carlisle's game against Bristol Rovers today and is expected to finalise the deal by Monday morning.

Motherwell's highly-rated Mark Reynolds is also set to join the Owls shortly.

Mark Reynolds - Motherwell’s 22 year-old Scottish U21 International This is not the first time we’ve been linked with the 22 year old Scot, and he has confirmed that he could be playing his last game tonight for the Motherwell side against Hibs. Motherwell manager Craig Brown has admitted there has been interest in his player over the last year or so, and the lad has already been linked with Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven. Indeed Glasgow Rangers made a bid for the player 21 months ago, and the bid was said to be around £750K. Reynolds has been watched several times by Newcastle scouts this season, although the player has refused to reveal his likely destination

I like it, young striker on the up. Only trouble with tall players in england is any english player has been brought up on the mentality of lump it to the big lad, if AI can keep a lid on that he will do well
