Owls To Receive Double Injury Boost

Wednesday are set to get a double injury boost this weekend with the probable return of recent absentees Lewis Buxton and Giles Coke for selection.

The duo have returned to training with the rest of the squad and Wednesday boss Alan Irvine is hopeful that both will be available for selection against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Midfielder Coke has been recovering from a cartilage operation while defender Buxton has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The latter could have been involved in last weekend's draw with Charlton Athletic but Irvine decided against risking him.

The news will leave the Owls boss with a welcome selection headache at the back.

New signings Reda Johnson both impressed in their first home match for the Owls at the weekend and are expected to continue in the Owls' back four.

Fellow new arrival Mark Reynolds, who signed for the Owls from SPL side Motherwell at the weekend, could also be in-line for a debut against the O's.

A betting man would put the duo as part of the Owls squad for the trip to London, but not in the starting eleven.

like the thought of Coke returning as the midfield engine covering box to box - then coupling him with a creative midfield man brought in from elsewhere. any thoughts?
Carbone's Padawan
just what the doctor ordered that Carbone's Padawan. one decent midfielder and i think we are pretty much done. City want to send out michael johnson on loan for the rest of the season, we should bend over backwards to get him, the guy is quality.

It would have been a triple injury boost but the knock that Purse picked up during training this week is nowhere near as bad as first feared!!!
CLIFFANDJ
quality post that Cliffand J!
Carbone's Padawan
good get coke back in the centre of midfield, does the above mean you want tommy millar replacing as the creative midfielder?
Hirsty's Shinpads
i think miller and coke in the middle - its sedgwick/johnson that need replacing on right wing? buxton, m morrison, r johnson, reynolds for back four. and lets get the big lad up front see what he can do. Does anyone know if you can pay at turnstile at orient - says on website all ticket?
Patrick Blondeau
hmmmm, i'v forgot how hard it is to pick from a potentially decent squad. As it stands its coke and miller in the middle, depends who we bring in. If its a quality player then yeah it would probably be miller to drop out. he doesnt make those late runs past the strikers which he used to do. he's 32 and had a few injurys so legs may be going a little. still a great player to have in the team though.

Need Coke's guile and bite back in midfield because O'Connor is fine but lacks something!!

@ the don, what o'connor lacks is called skill lol,as for new players i'd like us to sign ryan harley from exeter
mar5y
Put Coke back in and hope he can capture the form he showed at beginning of season alongside Tommy Miller.Like to see Heff given a start, looked really good when he came on against Charlton.
leons gloves
Mar5y, that's exactly what I was thinking but wanted to be polite :) and as for Harley, he's joined Swansea but has gone on loan back to Exeter. At least it looks like the Hughes deal is dead now!
