Purse Completes Millwall Move

Purse Completes Millwall Move

Former Wednesday captain Darren Purse has signed for Championship club Millwall on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

The centre-back left Wednesday by mutual consent yesterday and he was always expected to move to The New Den to play for the club he supported as a boy.

The Lions have now confirmed taking the 33-year-old on a deal until the end of the season.

And he'll go straight into the Millwall squad that will face Leicester City in the Championship tomorrow.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett told the official Millwall website: 'Darren brings great experience to the squad and strengthens us in the central defensive area where we are struggling at the moment.

'He's a Millwall fan and I'm sure he will relish the opportunity to play for this club.'

Darren Purse has a wealth of experience. Had plenty of opportunity at Hillsborough but never been consistent. He has in fact had some absolutely fabulous games. Unfortunately, he has had some unbelievably bad games. Real mixed feelings on this one. I would hope with all my heart that his reason for quitting wasnt the morons who loudly booed the captain of the side every time he touched the ball. That was an absolute disgrace and not something that I want to witness again. So, good look to Darren Purse, wore his heart on his sleeve regardless of his level of performance.

Maybe Darren was better than we all thought?! He's gone up a division when I thought he'd drop down a rung or two!!

I agree, but after a while if the real poor performances it gets to you, he had so many more bad games than good, and was a total liability at the back! the manager wasn't listening to the fans, we had been relegated we were looking at administration or even liquidation at one point, so surely the fans had a right to boo! I know alot if the booing came after all that but people don't forget!

Just got back from my holidays, can't believe the coming and goings, the only surprise to me is that our manager has still got a job, talk about D.P not being up to the job, well nothing less than 3 points tomorrow or i think he should be next.

Cannot grasp it, Millwall are one of the teams with most clean sheets in the Championship, they make sure that will change soon I guess.
