Purse Completes Millwall Move

Former Wednesday captain Darren Purse has signed for Championship club Millwall on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

The centre-back left Wednesday by mutual consent yesterday and he was always expected to move to The New Den to play for the club he supported as a boy.

The Lions have now confirmed taking the 33-year-old on a deal until the end of the season.

And he'll go straight into the Millwall squad that will face Leicester City in the Championship tomorrow.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett told the official Millwall website: 'Darren brings great experience to the squad and strengthens us in the central defensive area where we are struggling at the moment.

'He's a Millwall fan and I'm sure he will relish the opportunity to play for this club.'

LOL at this comment-Millwall boss Kenny Jackett told the official Millwall website: 'Darren brings great experience to the squad and strengthens us in the central defensive area where we are struggling at the moment. Wot a joke experience yes but strengths mmmmmmmmm let me think.

Darren Purse has a wealth of experience. Had plenty of opportunity at Hillsborough but never been consistent. He has in fact had some absolutely fabulous games. Unfortunately, he has had some unbelievably bad games. Real mixed feelings on this one. I would hope with all my heart that his reason for quitting wasnt the morons who loudly booed the captain of the side every time he touched the ball. That was an absolute disgrace and not something that I want to witness again. So, good look to Darren Purse, wore his heart on his sleeve regardless of his level of performance.

Maybe Darren was better than we all thought?! He's gone up a division when I thought he'd drop down a rung or two!!
TheDon1974
well said fed up agree 100%
vic mobley
I agree, but after a while if the real poor performances it gets to you, he had so many more bad games than good, and was a total liability at the back! the manager wasn't listening to the fans, we had been relegated we were looking at administration or even liquidation at one point, so surely the fans had a right to boo! I know alot if the booing came after all that but people don't forget!

amazed -jackett should go to spec savers

Just got back from my holidays, can't believe the coming and goings, the only surprise to me is that our manager has still got a job, talk about D.P not being up to the job, well nothing less than 3 points tomorrow or i think he should be next.

Cannot grasp it, Millwall are one of the teams with most clean sheets in the Championship, they make sure that will change soon I guess.

Wore his heart on his sleave this fella, but a shocking central defender who has cost us dearly this season, his exit should have been long ago, thank that great manager Brian Laws for bringing him to Wednesday !

think Purse leaving will be better for Beevers if he stays think he could do a job as captain
vic mobley
Can't see Beevers or Spur getting a game, think he may after let them go out on loan, only thing that they've got that Purse had'nt is youth, and as for captain think we've more chance of winning premiership to be honest.
ecco owl
Well we can't blame Purse this time can we Jamesc1905, ollyowl70, carlton owl, RatherRandomOwl, dicanio1974 and vic mobley 0 - 0 h/t Beevers comes on we lose 4 - 0 what does that tell you, simply not good enough.

What most of you guys have missed is the organisation that Darren brought to our defence. And his reading of the game. It was this that got him into the position agaisnt Charlton when he gave away the penalty - coming round the back from the right CH position to cover the mistake of his fellow defennder on the left. Admitted he has made a few mistakes this year but who hasn't? And some of his performances have been outstanding - especially away from home. He was awesome in the first half at Bristol City as you guys that went can testify! It is time the boo boys started to support the team and the players AND manager. AI has had to make do with signing 'rejects' from other clubs for the first part of this season and you all expect him to perform miracles with such players! Now he can sign the players he wants get off his back, support the team and help the new boys settle in. If we don't go up this year then so what - a new team needs to bed in and I am sure that AI has the ability to forge a good team. What we can do without is the boo boys who get their knives out at every opportunity. This club started it's decline when an unknowledable set of 'supporters' played a big part in getting Trevor Francis the sack and our downward spiral began right then! Some people just do not learn! Give the guy a chance to produce a side and then see what happens!

so what if we don't go up... Sivadam that is such a bad comment. We have got the money and where in a league full of very poor footballers and you don't care if don't go up haha.

dicanio1974
