Owls Confirm Lee Cook Interest

Wednesday have confirmed their interest in signing QPR winger Lee Cook on loan, but could face competition from Millwall for his signature.

The 28-year-old has dropped down the pecking order with the npower Championship leaders after suffering a knee injury, and a loan move away from Loftus Road would be seen as ideal to get him back to full fitness.

The chance to aqcuire the talented winger has alerted both Wednesday and Millwall, who are set to move to try and get their man this week.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric confirmed to the Sheffield Star that: 'We are working on that one. Hopefully something will materialise on that.'

Mandaric revealed at the start of the January transfer window that he was going to help boss Alan Irvine bring in six players to boost Wednesday's faultering promotion hopes.

Cook's arrival at Hillsborough would be the fifth new addition this month, following the permanent deals to bring Reda Johnson, Michael Morrison, Gary Madine and Mark Reynolds to the club.

The former Fulham man has made just one appearance for the Hoops so far this season, as a substitute in their 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.

Yet another wide man. WHY ? Center mids the problem.
INOUTFLS
A WINGER!! Where is our central midfielder!! Keith Andrews on loan or even Glenn Whelen? He doesnt seem to be getting too many games??
bognor_owl
Is he high? Why another winger for Christ sake, we need either creative, or defensive midfielder or even better both!

He said two more players to sign, I would prefer at least one centre mid , ideally two . We do not need a winger. we only have one centre mid of req
Aston_Owl
required quallity and thats Miller, jury still out on coke for me, and oconnor and potter are rhubarb
Aston_Owl
i still think we need a winger jj inconsistant teal seems to be coming off every game and sedgwick has no flair i would welcome this move. even with coke back and miller not being out for long we do need at least 1 centre midfielder with quality because at present our only form of attack is down the flanks
fozzyp
Surely we need an experienced ball winning central midfielder? Perhaps the sixth promised signing will be such a player. If not Mr Mainwairing, we're all doooomed!!

we do need another winger because JJ is a waste of time. on tuesday when they were down to 9 men and we had 4 centreforwards on the pitch our only winger johnson was constantly in the middle of the pitch! if johnson is in the team then he needs to concentrate on staying on the wing and getting to the byline (like teale does). as for a centre midfielder I have an answer 'Reda Johnson' this boy looks like a player, he can pass, tackle, head the ball, his movement is good and I reckon he'd add the bite we need in the middle. we seriously lacked leadership on the pitch and Weaver as captain is a mistake. we need a voice on the pitch and this may be controversial but for me Clinton Morrison would be the best pick because he is respected, he knows what he's talking about and he loves to shout at people, the responsibility would stop him moaning just like it did when Atkinson made Di Canio captain for a few matches

teale and sedgewick were free transfers and a gamble, and to be honest not consistant (sums up our season) johnson out of contract at end of season so we might cash in .

On JJs current form, would anyone want him?Agree with tommy craig,he should stay on the wing, demand the ball and run at defenders to the byline. His pace is his obvious asset but he is so frustrating.Got to be in the team for me though, more of a threat than Sedgewick will ever be.

He is far better than what we have, if they are struggling to acquire a CM of sufficient quality then improve on what you have and Lee Cook makes JJ, Teale and Sedgewick all look rubbish. Do need to keep looking for a CM though!

I still think a winger is a must as well as one (maybe two) midfielders but primarily one that can dictate the pace of a game. Lee Cook reminds me a little of Stephen Hunt or Andy Reid and would be a good acquisition and I'd stick Teale on the right and have JJ's impact from the bench.
