McGovern Joins Dons

Former Owls favourite Jon-Paul McGovern has joined League Two side MK Dons and follows Drissa Diallo to join up with Martin Allen's new-look side.

The former Celtic and Sheffield United midfielder was told he could leave the club at the end of last season after failing to impress Owls boss Paul Sturrock after recovering from a serious injury.

The lively winger has signed a three year deal with the club - who suffered relegation to league Two last season - and will join former team-mate Drissa Diallo who left for the Milton Keynes club last week.

McGovern was the driving force behind leading the Owls to League One play-off victory in 2005 but was blighted by injury problems which saw him make a handful of appearances last season.

JP made 61 appearances and netted eight goals for the club after moving south of the border from SPL side Livingston in 2004.

He'll be the best right winger in League Two mark my words. Was brilliant at League One level. Surprised he's gone to MK Dons though, no offence pal but you're not exactly a big club. Must be something going for you if you've got Martin Allen as boss though!

He was one of the players allegedly on his way to Millmoor a couple of weeks ago - I suppose his wages were too high for us - personally, I thought he'd have done a good job for us.
