Cook U-Turn On Owls Loan Move

Contrary to reports on Vital earlier today, Lee Cook is reported to have pulled out of a loan move to Wednesday from QPR at the last minute.

Vital sources revealed a deal was done to bring the winger to S6 this afternoon and Radio Sheffield's Seth Bennett has since revealed that a deal had been agreed to sign the 28-year-old.

But the former Fulham man is understood to have pulled out of a move at the last minute after discussions with the club.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric was hopeful that there would be some good news regarding Cook when he spoke to Radio Sheffield earlier today.

It looks as though Alan Irvine will have to settle for the five signings he's made in January with the transfer deadline having passed at 11pm tonight.

Wednesday could still return to try and bring Cook to Hillsborough on a short-term loan deal, but any deal with the former Fulham man now seems unlikely.

Expecting a statement from the club in the morning.

He obviously had his reasons and he was quoted a couple of weeks ago as saying he wanted to go somewhere for a month to get some games and then play for QPR so maybe he didn't fancy a long term deal?!

Hey, five desired signings isn't a bad transfer window by my standards... especially compared to what we've had to put up with in the past years. Get these lads in sync with the team and then hit the market hard in the summer. Not a bad at all! Let's just hope Isaiah does what we need in the MF.

Anyone considered it might be Irvine not wanting Cook, and not the other way round? Tomorrow's statement from the club, if one comes, should be interesting.

TheDon1974 You are probably closer to the truth than you think. Cookie is a lifelong QPR fan and really wants to get the chance to wear the hoops again. Good luck and let's hope your boys get back into the NPC a.s.a.p.!

no need to think about it. you can bank on it. he'll always block any player we're interested in from whatever team he manages.

5 signings made and the squad looks much better than it did. Still nervous about Posh tonight though. The things you never thought you'd say!

Sod him if he doesnt want to come and get 1st team football then its his loss, only players that want to play for our club are welcome.

The last thing they said on radio Sheffield yesterday was that the deal was done, all he needed to do was talk to Irvine, then he pulled out, so why was that ?
ecco owl
He had a change of heart and wanted to stay at QPR. I've heard he gets homesick very easily......puff!!
will it ever happen
