Owls Part With Boss Alan Irvine

Alan Irvine is understood to have left Wednesday following a meeting with chairman Milan Mandaric last night, according to reports this morning.

Irvine's job has been hanging by a thread in recent weeks following a number of poor performances which have left the Owls adrift of the npower League One play-off places.

And Mandaric, who bought the club in December, is understood to have called time on his reign as Wednesday boss.

The 5-3 loss at Peterborough United in midweek seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

The club have yet to confirm Irvine's departure but official confirmation is expected this morning.

More to follow.

SSN is saying he has gone too!!! GET IN!!!!now to find a new gaffer UTO!!!
At the end of the day football is about results and we are just not getting them - end of! I was never an 'Irvine hater' but agreed that change needed to be made to bring fresh impetus and a possible push for the play-offs!
Thank christ for that. Nice fella and hard worker but just a job too big. It's king kev for me all the way. He plays all out attacking football, players will want to come and play for him and will put plenty of bums back on seats. I know he has a reputation as a quitter but even if he only stays a couple of years, he will leave us a top half championship team at minimum.
Let's hope it's a manager who can fully use are great players
Why is the club so slow at getting confirmations out? Hope it's not a repeat of Monday and the Cook deal!
Hopefully MM will have someone in by early next week, I think Chris Hughton is realistic and a good option
Let's hope we get a manager who can get the best out of our league one players, cos that's what they are let's not kid ourselves
A month too late but thank f*** for that!
he had to go poor result's negative tactics now for chris hughton
Megson is early 3-1 favourite, i would be mortified if this happened. no,no,no,no,no. tactics would be no different to irvines, i just hope gary neville's sudden retirement has nothing to do with this, he always said he wanted to go into coaching and managment.
Megson is the obvious choice , out of work , Weds fan and experience of getting sides up, but that was 5-10 years ago, and agree with the Dezzy on tactics as well, think megson should stay sat in the south stand!
not megson - so boring - lets have someone with some footballing ambition - you know a sort of anti-mucky adams
Patrick Blondeau
Sheridan or Hughton please
PFL, intelligent comments as usual. The lane is showing us that a fan being manager doesn’t work for the most part, you’re going down!
As a Bolton fan, just like to say that we all hope that the menace of Megson is not inflicted on you. No club, bar the Baggies, has a good word to say about him and he will alienate you quicker than you can say Johan Elmander. Leave well alone IMHO.
Quentin X
Gary Megson has gone from 4/1 to 1/3 on in under a hour, what does that tell you.
ecco owl
Bfl I'm beginning to like you!!!! I don't want him or like him but Blackwell could be the man, he's deffinately tje type we need!!!! Bbaaarghh I've just been sick!!
Please not megson!!!
Either BFL is on crack or he is has some kind of personality disorder. Every now and again he comes on here and actually sounds like a sensible adult.
Honestly, its either rehab or medication.
Just been told by a good source to get my money on Megson
Money better placed on Sheridan methinks. Chesterfield fans already a bit concerned.
