Megson To Utilise Loan Window

The transfer window for loan deals reopens today, and new Owls boss Gary Megson is set to take full advantage to bolster his squad.

Megson was appointed Wednesday boss less than a week after the close of the January transfer window, in which former boss Alan Irvine added five players to the Owls squad.

But chairman Milan Mandaric promised more players would be arriving when the loan window reopens, today, and it's set to give Megson the chance to bring his own men in.

And Owls fans could see new players in before Saturday's npower League One trip to Rochdale.

A deal to sign QPR winger Lee Cook looks dead after the former Fulham man pulled out of discussions with the Owls at the last minute before the close of the transfer window.

But 'two or three' more loan arrivals could already be in the pipeline as Mandaric and Megson look to add players to a struggling squad sooner rather than later.

As always, keep visiting Vital Wednesday for all the latest transfer rumours and done deals.

Once again, how wonderful to speculate on who our new players might be - especially as they are now much less likley to be a load of old cast offs and crocks!

somebody on here said yesterday looking at sol campbell dont know the truth in it
retfordowl1867
I hope that's not true about Sol Campbell because he's looked decidedly dodgy when playing for Newcastle this season and even the 2 Alan's on Match Of The Day were ripping his game to shreds. Maybe we were too quick to get rid of DP and although I wouldn't have him in my first-team, his leadership and experience would still have been invaluable around the squad. I'd rather see an experienced 30-32 year old player in the middle of the park who can take the pressure off the defence by taking the ball from them, keeping possession and orchestrating things.

definitely midfield needs adding to, and the chuckle brothers at CB as you could've driven a bus through them at the weekend, though i think beevers and hinds should get a chance? just seen that fanny jeffers has gone to motherwell - i feel sorry for them.
Patrick Blondeau
He shud do well on their medical table.

I turn 30 in a few weeks and don't have a club so ill step up for the Wednesday course! Just to get us out of League 1 one though!
Owls That!
yes smiggy I agree robbie savage would love to come even just to the end of season, with his record you see he takes no prisoners thats what is needed in the middle

savage would do a drop even if his legs will only allow him to play the holding midfielder, some one like glen whealan box box energetic who can add in the final third an experienced centre back heard campbell doubt we would be able to afford his wages and hes been poor at newcastle but we are not in the premier league and with our young defence his personality and experience would be invaluable and still think we need another winger for options off the bench I know that sounds an optomistic amount of transfers but we have manadaric and he will fund it if gm sees it as essential plus he wants to get out of this league. I think now purse has gone our squad is lacking expereince around the place

Going slightly off topic but we apparently have all these links in Europe and all over the world but we never seem to see any players from it? I would've thought a time like this would be a perfect opportunity to be looking for some unkowns, players like Gera, Koren etc who were unkown before, cost little or no money and have gone on to bigger things! Perhaps those two arent the best examples but you see what im getting at! What does anyone else think?

get christian mayrleb back!!!

I think it's obvious that it's not that we don't have good players, they were just not motivated in the right way before. Two examples - Tudgay and Purse - they were both playing under expectations, then moved to a higher league and both are having great seasons so far. I say get ONLY one central midfielder, then just gel whatever players we have for now. Stop buying or loaning just because we can. Let's hope Megson can motivate the players and watch what happens.
