Owls Re-Ignite Carson Interest

Owls Re-Ignite Carson Interest

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has re-ignited his interest in bringing young Liverpool and England goalkeeper Scott Carson to Hillsborough on a season-long loan.

The former Leeds United man was top of Sturrock's shopping list this summer after impressing in a two-month loan spell which saw the Owls avoid relegation last season.

But the Owls boss ended his interest in Carson last week after Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez refused to make a decision on the future of the young stopper until the end of July - one week before the start of the Championship season.

Owls chairman Dave Allen told the official SWFC website: 'Scott Carson has revealed a desire to return here for a season. We can meet his salary.'

Sturrock wanted his new-look side in place for the start of pre-season training but a new number one at Hillsborough has still not emerged and it looks like reserve stopper Chris Adamson will be used on the upcoming tour of the USA.

The news means Sturrock will be without a goalkeeper until the Owls return to England at the end of July - the deadline Benitez had given for a decision on Carson.

Carson made nine appearances for the Owls during his two-month loan spell at the end of last season. One defeat in the Owls' final nine games saw Wednesday avoid a swift return to League One.

We have been linked with him the last two days, looks like we may lose Kuszczak to Man Utd so Carson has been muted as a replacement should he go. Are you looking to get him back on loan or permanently?

Permanent move has been mentioned but I think Benitez only wants him to go out on a season long loan if at all, be too pricey for us anyway I think!
