O'Brien Set For Owls Loan Return
Bolton Wanderers midfielder Joey O'Brien is set for a return to Hillsborough on loan until the end of the season, according to reports today.
O'Brien pulled out of the clash between Bolton Reserves and Bury Reserves last night and The Bolton News is reporting that the 25-year-old is set to move on loan to Wednesday before Thursday's deadline.
The Irishman is desperate for first-team football and Owls boss Gary Megson knows the qualities O'Brien has to bolster a Wednesday side that is struggling at the wrong end of npower League One.
O'Brien has not featured for Bolton's first team since October 2008 and he's out of contract at The Reebok Stadium at the end of the current campaign.
Wednesdayites have fond memories of O'Brien following a successful loan spell in the 2004-05 campaign, where he started 15 times and helped the Owls to promotion the same season.
He can play at full-back but is more likely to be played in midfield, a role he played during his last stint in the blue and white stripes.
And the move could be made permanent in the summer, with O'Brien likely to be released at the end of his contract with the Lancashire club.
