Owls loan stopper returns to Wigan

Wednesday loan goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has returned to parent club Wigan Athletic after failing to make a first team start for the Owls.

Nicholls arrived from the Barclays Premier League club on an emergency loan to cover the injuries to regular number one Nicky Weaver and Arron Jameson.

But good performances by Richard O'Donnell, who Nicholls was back-up for, limited him to making the match squad but not getting a run out between the sticks for the Owls.

Weaver returned to first team action in the Owls' 3-1 victory over Swindon Town on Easter Monday and his return, as well as that of Jameson, has prompted the Owls to send Nicholls back to the DW Stadium.
