Owls linked with Colchester striker

Wednesday have been linked with a swoop for Colchester United's out-of-contract striker Ian Henderson this summer.

The 26-year-old has stalled on talks over a new deal with the npower League One side, alerting a number of clubs, including the Owls, according to skysports.com.

Southampton, promoted to the Championship, and Sheffield United, who will be playing with Wednesday in League One next term, have also been linked with his services.

The U's are keen to tie up a new deal for the forward but interest from other clubs could well see the former Norwich City man hold out for a move away from the West Homes Community Stadium.

Owls boss Gary Megson has already announced he is keen to bring six players to bolster his squad this summer for a promotion push next term.

A striker is understood to be on his wishlist, with experienced Leicester City forward Steve Howard linked with a move to S6, and Neil Mellor also a target after finishing a season-loan loan spell with the Owls with 20 goals.

Madine and Mellor please with two additional strikers of real purpose (with JJ as a cover striker if required - Ok would spend a lot of time on his back-side but no more than CM). I think Heff can go although I think he would do well in a higher leauge ironically he's proved that his style of striker will always suffer in Leauge 1. (Wish we'd had him a few seasons earlier!) Mr Henderson (Straight out of the Matrix) I think has got 10 goals this season but I wonder if he's known to Megson from Norwich days. I'm not really sure what to think.... we could get huge names in and have them under-perform or go for strikers that want to prove themselves, maybe he's one of the latter. I'm probably the only Wednesday fan that thinks this but on the cheap I think we would be able to sign Rory Fallon from Plymouth as a good option. (I will wait for the laughs) Having watched him boss our back four at Hillsborough I think he's suffered from a lack of oppurtunity since moving from Barnsley. I think him and Madine are Similar in style and may not play together often but who knows. All I hope is we buy Strikers that have 20+ goal seasons. UTO

While mentioning Plymouth if they are looking to have a fresh start there are a few other players that may do well with a move to Wednesday... would like to see N'Gala oh and Steve Mclean!! ;o)

As much as Paul Heffernan has proved ge can play at Hillsborough and actually wants to play it would amaze me if we don't sell or send him out on loan. Think of better players than Henderson and Steve Howard. Le Fondre? C Davies? Hoskins? All of these would be on my list.

Just read this about Le Fondre- Watching Le Fondre’s goal scoring exploits will show you a player with natural scoring prowess, so whichever club comes in for him is certain to get a player who possesses the ability to score goals at a higher level. Perhaps not the Premiership, but a lower Championship side or upper League 1 side would certainly benefit from a player who has averaged 1 goal every 2.2 games over the past six seasons. One other thing is also certain; clubs do not get rid of goal scorers for free and therefore any potential suitor must be prepared to part with some serious cash if they want to get their hands on League 2’s hottest property.

Le Fondre is terrible, was that report made by stevie wonder? To part with any money for him would be a waste.

Ian Hendersons career profile doesnt read too gud for a striker 183 app n only 12 goals.
