'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owls Academy duo go pro

Wednesday have given professional first team contracts to Academy duo Sean Cuff and Cecil Nyoni ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.

Sean McAuley, the Owls Academy manager, has been pleased with the progression of the duo and has deemed them good enough to graduate to first team pro status.

It's unlikely that either will be knocking on the door of the first team next season, but it's another promising step for the duo.

McAuley told the official Owls website: 'We have made contract offers to Sean and Cecil.

'We're really fortunate that our goalkeepers get to work with Andy Rhodes, the first team goalkeeper coach. He has a big say in retaining Sean.

'We'll have to find an appropriate programme now for Sean to challenge him.

'We've also taken Cecil Nyoni, who throughout the two years here has shown good promise and has excelled in games were he's kept company that outweigh the experience he has had.'

With Wednesday scrapping their reserve team for next season, the duo could well look for loan moves away from the Owls to continue their development.
