Batth set for Wednesday return

Highly-rated Wolves defender Danny Batth is set for a return to Hillsborough on a loan deal next season, according to reports.

Batth spent the end of last season on loan with the Owls and impressed boss Gary Megson and Wednesdayites alike with his commanding performances in the heart of defence.

The 20-year-old is on Megson's list of players he'd like to bring to Hillsborough to bolster his squad for a promotion push from npower League 1 next season.

The fact that Wolves will still be in the Barclays Premier League next season has helped Wednesday's cause to sign Batth on loan greatly.

It means the youngster is still likely to be down the pecking order under Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and another loan spell to gain more first-team experience will suit all parties.

Batth enjoyed his loan stint at S6 last term and would team up with centre-back partner Rob Jones, who he spent the end of last season on loan with.

The deal could be on a season-long or half-season basis and his arrival would be a big boost for Wednesdayites.

Batth and Jones were immense together would be great to see them both back at the heart of our defence again!! For the first time in a few seasons I am actually optamistic about next season ( hope I'm not wrong)

If this is true it will be a great for the team, him and Jones were our best central pairing last season, and probably saved us from the drop.

If Jones and Batth re-unite their partnership at the back I'm hopeful of great things as they showed what was possible when you have a solid rear guard... with Weaver behind them given confidence by their play we'll be properly difficult to break down. Especially with the signings that have been made and are in the pipeline for the centre of midfield!! Soon the attention will shift from clean sheets to creative players but with a the possibility of the core we may have on the pitch these players will finally have license to show what they can do. he was quality along with jones last season agree with the fact that we could be a hard unit to break down hopeing we can pull this off

Well if you consider they both joined at a time when we were without our first and second choice keepers we did well to keep it as tight as we did and hopefully if this comes off the link of Batth, Jones and Weaver will work even better over time!

He helped CLEAN up our defence last year who had been a right SHOWER up until then. And we may be able to pull the PLUG on a few of the poorer buys we made.

I think it may be Megsons intention to play an offensive 4-5-1 if he can get the players he needs, changing to a 4-4-2 if the need presents itself... this is solely dependent however in finding truly gifted offensive wingers that can play for 90 minutes and a center midfield player of true offensive quality to play with prutton and the other midfield workhorse. I think if we get Charltons captain that this way of play is the way we'll go fingers-crossed that soon the arrivals start to flood in so they can have the time they need to start the season properly prepared. Batth would be a good signing even if only on loan. With regard to Mells, he obviously ain't that desperate to be in the blue and white stripes... We don't need money grabbing, inconsistent, bigheaded, "I should be in the premiership" type players. That's what got our "once" great club in the mess it finds itself right now. Thanks Mells but NO THANKS.... RID FOOTBALL OF MONEY GRABBING BAR STEWARDS. THEY SHOULD THINK THEMSELVES LUCKY THEY GET PAID AT ALL TO DO SOMETHING MOST WOULD DO FOR FREE!!! T**TS!

Oops, got a bit carried away. Sorry. If Mellor doesn't want to join a L1 club with more than likely a championship wage then it's his loss not ours...

Have to admitt surprised it's fallen through at the personal terms stage... if it has then as highlighted the issue lays with Mellor!! If it stays this way shows the club has grown up and isn't willing to break the bank for a player. We can find someone else I'm sure willing to play for our great club on our terms!! No player is bigger than the club! Would like to see him back but not at any cost! UTO
