Owls set for Carling Cup draw

The 2010-11 season may only be a matter of weeks old but the draw for next season's Carling Cup competition takes place on Thursday.

Wednesday will be in the hat for the first round of the competition which is drawn on Thursday - just a day before the fixtures for the 2011-12 Football League season are released.

The Owls will be unseeded this season thanks to their poor season last term, meaning they could face a number of tough, local opponents in the first round this term.

The competition is split into northern and southern sections for the early rounds.

It means Wednesday could well come up against rivals Sheffield United, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers or Hull City, while teams including Middlesbrough and Leicester City could also fall in the seeded nothern section.

The draw will be made public at 10am on Thursday, with the first round taking place in the week commencing Monday, August 8.
