Town striker Scotland linked with Owls

Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland is the latest name to be linked with a summer move to Hillsborough.

The 32-year-old former Wigan Athletic and Swansea City man could be deemed surplus to requirements at Portman Road following the addition of Michael Chopra.

The news has caught the attention of Wednesday, according to reports today, who could be weighing-up a bid for the Trinidad and Tobago international.

Owls boss Gary Megson is keen to bolster his squad following a season to forget last term and a striker is high on his priority list.

Megson is keen to bring Neil Mellor back to Hillsborough on a permanent basis but Preston are understood to be keen to hold on to the former Liverpool man, who impressed on loan with the Owls last season.

It means the Owls boss will have to turn his attentions elsewhere to boost his attacking options and Scotland is one option.

The striker has a year left on his contract at Portman Road after signing for Ipswich last summer so would command a fee, and is expected to be on relatively high wages.

Scotland made 45 appearances for the Tractor Boys last season in all competitions, netting ten goals.

All I can see here is another Clinton Morrison episode! As for saying Preston are understood to be keen to hold onto Mellor, why did they agree a fee with us? It only fell down on personal terms.
TheMightyBoosh
rumour has it we are going back in for mellor
retfordowl1867
not keen on this one he's getting on a bit and give it till the end of the season we would be looking to replace him again would prefer younger . a few years ago i would have been exited by this one though - right kind of player just at the wrong time
wedalways
he has past it completely, exactly what themightyboosh said that he would be another clinton morrison, i say leave him where he is and lets go for younger strikers like Le Fondre, Mellor, Donaldson, Bowditch etc...
SGoodwin94
Cant see this happening for us.If Mellor is reportadly on 9,000 a week at Preston then Scotland will be on the same or even more at Ipswich. This seems like a non starter to me.Agree with mightyboosh, another Clinton Morrison. What a dissapointment hes been for us.

agree with above comments - no thanks...

This has the smell of interest for interest sake... think it's Mellor that is really wanted it's whether or not we can find him a contract that he likes!! Being there are strikers to be had of equal stature even though he was great for us I hope we don't break the bank for him just to see him under perform... UTO

I see that Heff has now been released so I would say that a striker signing must be on the cards sooner rather than later! Dependent on what future Morrison does or doesn't have at the club without Mellors signing we look a little light up front. Guess it's a case of watch this space. WTID

Oh.. and the other thing I've just read is MK Dons are after Buxton for a replacement to one of the players that departed after the play-offs...
4evaOWL
Scotland would be brilliant at this level if we're not breaking the bank to get him. Easily bag 20-plus

Fresh from the rumour mill or maybe be not but from a decent source informed me that We have been sniffing around Bolton for Ricardo Gardener Burnley for Steve Thompson Coventry for Micheal McIndoe Watford for Nathan Ellington has anyone heard anything along these lines?

Just sign Mellor at least he wants to play for the club and if he can follow on from last season we know exactly what we are getting.

Was incredible for Swansea in League 1. Didn't like running after the ball but give him half a chance and he scores a goal!
