Megson interested in Bennett deal

Megson interested in Bennett deal

Wednesday boss Gary Megson is interested in bringing out-of-contract Nottingham Forest defender Julian Bennett to Hillsborough this summer.

Megson took Bennett to Forest from Walsall during his time as manager at the City Ground in 2006 and is understood to be keen to sign the 26-year-old for a second time.

The Owls boss is looking to bolster his squad with nine new additions in the close season as he aims for an improved season on the pitch.

Strengthening his defence is a priority and Bennett is deemed surplus to requirements at the City Ground this summer after a frustrating few campaigns with the Championship campaign.

He suffered a serious knee injury in the 2009-10 season and has since been loaned out to Crystal Palace on a six-month deal last term.

But Megson knows Bennett well and knows he would be a good addition to his squad if he manages to stay injury free.

Maybe GM knows something we don't, but I would have thought we had enough defenders by now? Isn't it about time we saw some movement with the forward & wing positions?

Just what we need.Someone whos had a serious knee injury and inury prone! Thought a striker would be more of a priority and a winger who can actually cross the ball than a full back.

Dagenham have accepted a bid from green from a championship club, typical wednesday dragging their feet.

I doubt we were dragging our feet. We were the first to put in an offer for him which was rejected. As soon as a Championship club showed interest Green was bound to bide his time and Daggers were holding out for a decent fee.

Should we have not at least gone in for a second bid than leave it a few weeks and do nothing?

Depends how much they were after. I reckon Milan knows what he is doing and sticking to a budget. Fair play to him for that. Remember where we could have been at this stage now if he hadn't shown up at all?!

Only the Mandaric, Aldridge and Megson know what's happening behind the scenes. The rest of us can only summise!
