Spurr completes Doncaster switch

Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of Wednesday left-back Tommy Spurr.

Spurr has been linked with a move to the npower Championship club for some weeks and the deal has now been confirmed by Rovers.

The fee has been undisclosed but it's believed to be around the £200k mark, with Spurr penning a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Leeds-born Spurr came through the Wednesday Academy at a similar time to Mark Beevers and became a fans' favourite in his first few seasons thanks to his high work rate and never-say-die attitude.

His progress has halted over the last year-and-a-half though and the left-back fell out of favour with Owls boss Gary Megson towards the end of last season.

The deal seems to be in the interest of all parties and Spurr will be hoping to kick-on with Rovers next term.

wedalways Perhaps the malaise that has pervaded Hillborough for the past few seasons percolates from the Official site. Part time Webmaster to go with the part time players we seem to have employed. Must say though to see a player like Spurr who was nurtured through the ranks leave rankles a bit.Begs the question did we let him down? Good luck Tommy

Spoke to Tommy yesterday and he told me it wasnt by choice that he was leaving. He was gutted bout wat was sed about him by Megson and wanted fans to know that he always gave 100% in both training and wen he was playing. He lost his way which is understandable wen u got a manager that was for ever pulling u down.Gudluck Tommy and dont forget wot i sed if that opportunity arises.

have no doubt that Tommy will revel being in a stable team with a good man manager in charge just a shame it couldn't have been with us
