Winger Teale next to leave Hillsborough

Winger Gary Teale has become the next player to leave Wednesday after seeing his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old made 51 appearances in all competitions for the Owls since joining on a free transfer last summer, scoring five goals along the way.

Gary Megson, the Wednesday manager, is making big changes to his squad following a season-to-forget for Wednesdayites last season, and Teale doesn't feature in his plans for the future.

It's understood the Scot was one of the higher earners at S6 but he failed to make the desired impression in his sole season in S6.

what are the chances of all these players leaving, and then no-one wanting to come in to replace them, and us ending up with a *****e squad next season?

Id just as much rather have a tiny squad than half of this lot. We will get players soon enough im sure........maybe not good one's though.

Megsons not daft enough to let all these go and not have any replacements lined up, plenty of time yet.... Transfer windows not open yet either.

OWL25, lining them up and getting them through the door are two different things altogether. I get the feeling we've already had a few slaps in the face over the past few weeks!!

Not only that, the majority of our players are going to be free transfers (or so we were told) and Charlton have been plenty busy signing 9 players already so the transfers are there!

getting a little worried we letting all these players go for nothing must be some imminent arrivals to come i guess part of the reason why we letting high earners go is to free up money for mellor's wages ??

Best business Megson has done so far this one for me.What use is a winger that cant cross the ball and cant take a corner without hitting the defender on near post.Another player that came with great hope and delivered nothing.Well done Megson and good luck to St Mirren.

Teale only had 5 good'ish games from what I can remember and they were the ones when he left his orange boots in the changing room!! Could have been he seemed better over the game as he wasn't as noticible!!... Not shocked he's gone or that bothered! Good luck to him. I can only assume that we've replacements lined up to come in and we are working on the details... well actually I think I'm hoping that is whats happening. UTO

what does my head in is the derisory fee's we're getting for our players. I know it's a good thing Teale is leaving and I know we wouldn't get a lot for him, but I understand we're letting him go for free... WHY??? even Teale is worth 100-250k. Spurr was worth more than we got for him too.

Whats everyone moaning about. It's the 1st of July today and we haven't got rid of one decent player. I can't remember a squad before where i can't think of one player i like. the few players in so far are good. not all players lined up will come through but some new last miunte one will. Last season we looked llike we may get relegated. I couldn't care less how many of them leave. We were spoiled last year seemimgly signing players on a daily basis - look where that got us. i'm not meggos biggest fan but he can spot a plyer and doesn't seem the type to panic buy.

Hang on - i've just spotted teale worth 100-250K Ha Ha ha Ha! Yopu ought to change your name to michaelmcintyres padowan with belters like that. I remember Leyton orient at home last year and he put in arguably the worst individual perforfanec since Kim Olsen got a kick!!!!

Yeah you're right Radon, based on that performance alone we should banish any potential income. good business that.

What's worse is we've obviously given HIM money to agree to terminate his contract. Won't be a lot but that's a bit criminal in his case.

agree with radon, we were abysmal last season and there aren't any players who I would be truly sorry to see leave. i wouldn't give in to mellors wage demands and i wouldn't bother with out of contract championship players who are knocking 30 either. we did best when we signed the likes of whelen, brunt, maclean etc who were all striving to achieve something better.

Why is everyone worried? This is good news. I didn't rate teale at all I thought he was dreadful. Megson will have players lined up. We need to off load Sedgwick maybe Clinton Morrison.

Teale deserved to go. He just wasn't up to it and if we really want to get out of this league then players like him to have to go. Before we start loking for Megson's head we should wait and see who he does bring in first. Just because he doesn't get every player he wants and we get some knock-backs doesn't mean we won't get anyone and that the world is caving in. He's obviously aimed high with some players but we are a League 1 club that finished in the bottom half last season so attracting players won't be easy, all the same I'm sure we will, given a bit of time. Most of us were over the moon before last season with Irvine bringing in some big names under the circumstances and virtually every one of them turned out to be useless. We all need to be patient but yes, I really hope Clinton Morrison is found a way out of the club because he is just an expensive waste of space.

Teale was poor and deserved to go, i agree with last few comments about Morrison and Sedgwick, i also think it's time for them to leave, we want rid of these players that got us into this mess, lets start a fresh. Don't worry if we don't get anything for them, most of them were not worth anything anyway, Megson knows what he's doing, he's Wednesday through and through.

Is it fair to say that many teams who get promoted have spent a few years building a squad and have been relatively stable during their year of promotion? I'm all for getting rid of under performing players, but are we ripping the heart out of the team? Will the influx (hopefully) of new players have time to gel before the season starts?

In all honesty SeattleOWL I didn't really see a heart in the team to rip out from last season. We're light on playing staff at present but hopefully that will all change soon. The key will be getting them all to perform together!

I guess it is a question of timing - we'll need the new players in soon to give them time to learn how to play together. I for one have high hopes for Gary Madine Goal Machine - I think he will come into his own if he gets better service. As I said before we need replacements for Chris Brunt and Glenn Whelan. We haven't been the same since we sold them.
