McCall targets swift return for Reynolds

Wednesday could be ready to let defender Mark Reynolds make a swift return to former club Motherwell - just six months after becoming an Owl/

The Scot has made just eight first team appearances for Wednesday since Alan Irvine brought him to Hillsborough in January and Gary Megson seems to have deemed him surplus to requirements at S6.

The 24-year-old came highly rated from the SPL club but struggled to slot into a much-changed defence that was leaking goals throughout last term.

His position at Wednesday has alerted McCall, who didn't want him to leave Fir Park originally, and the Motherwell boss could take him back north of the border this summer.

McCall told STV: 'Mark could be a possibility for us. He would certainly fit the bill of what we're looking to bringin on loan.

'He seems at a loose end right now at Sheffield Wednesday. It's one that I've given thought to but I don't know if it could happen.'

Wednesday are understood to have paid £150,000 for his services in January and would look to recoup most of that if Reynolds was to leave.

Desperate to see him go Mick? ;)

seems like we are getting rid of players and no one to replace them,I would rather have got people in first then let them go
barnyowl
barnyowl, couldnt really do that. if we had brought players in and not been able to move any on, we could have had a squad of 40 on decent contracts, mm to far too wise for all that.
DEZZYP
Agree DEZZY, wednesday know too well what its like to be stuck with players under contract we don't won't and can't ged rid of so it's best to ged rid before bringing in new. Whilst it's good to see the exit door getting well used I'd like to see the entrance unlocked and a few come in now. Hopefully the wage bill has been reduced sufficiently to allow some quality arrivals to come in over next week or two. From what MM and GM have said previously I'm expecting at least 6 new faces!!!

Reynolds looked all at sea when I saw him last season but I'd like to see him given a second chance.
TheMightyBoosh
Let him go back to Motherwell, good business by Megson if he can offload him. Looked like a scared rabbit most of the time, especially at Birmingham in Cup.Cant believe we signed him.Very poor.
leons gloves
I can't believe he isn't worth a second chance. It can't have been easey playing in that defence last year.

Do you think we missed a trick not advertising a BOGOF deal mind you knowing our luck we would end up with a Pattio Door thinking he was a French centre half
andymac-scoresagoal
Regardless of how poor our defence was last term this guy just did not look the part physically nor mentally. Let him go
