Jones named as new Wednesday captain

New signing Rob Jones has been chosen by Owls boss Gary Megson to be Wednesday's captain for the 2011-12 campaign.

Jones only penned a permanent deal at Hillsborough this summer but seems to have impressed Megson enough during a loan stint at S6 last season to get the captain's armband.

Megson told the official SWFC website: 'Rob Jones will be the captain next season. He has all the qualities you look for in a captain.

'He is the natural choice and the stand-out candidate.'

Jones made the move to Wednesday from Scunthorpe United, where he was the Iron's record signing from Hibernian.

Bit of a no-brainer really but good to see we have leadership skills in Semedo and Prutton too. Beevers skippered the side on Tuesday night and didn't do a bad job by all accounts!

As long as he stays injury free I'm happy.
Carbone's Padawan
brilliant it will be nice to have a captain that wont accept less than 100% from all the players and who isn't shy in letting them know if they aren't

Can't say how glad I am that we signed him. He's a big boost for the team. Good to hear the report on Beevers, too, TheDon1974. He suffered a bit of a slump, but I still think he's got great potential.

Man's got a lot of veins popping out of his arms! Not sure how that's even helpful, but hey, he's got a lot of veins.

Just read it Carbone's Padawan, and he's right we should have more players signed up, the season is almost upon us and other teams seem to get players alright, come on Mr Mandaric release some of that money so Gary can get ready for the start of the season.

yeah totally with you on that ecco.
Carbone's Padawan
Seems like we've missed out on a decent player with agud scoring record in Chris Porter, who as just signed for the blunts.
