Saintini fails to win Wednesday deal

French trialist Rudy Saintini has left the Owls after failing to impress manager Gary Megson.

Megson invited the winger to S6 for a trial spell with the club and he was given an outing during Wednesday's friendly defeat at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Wednesday night.

He won't be pulling in the blue and white stripes next season though after leaving the club ahead of today's friendly clash against Leeds United.

Saintini arrived at the club alongside fellow trialist Padraig Amond, but the latter seems to have had a more positive impact on Megson and the Irishman could get another run out against Leeds this afternoon.

Would be nice to see Amond score this afternoon. He sounds like he has a little something about him and a goal would cap it off!

brilliant apsolutely brilliant, you have a decent winger on a plate infront of you on a free and you let him go even though its one of the main departments we need new signings in!

I hope we do sign Amond, I recall that club in Portugal signed him, stating they got another Kevin Doyle. Some handy strikers have come from the Irish Prem. in recent years, Noel Hunt, Shane Long as well as Doyle.

Goodwin how do you know he's a decent winger? Seen him play much?

Agreed Pob, if he's decent he wouldn't necessarily be plying his trade in the Belgian second division. Who knows what the reasons behind it were. He may well be decent, but he also may well have been too similar to JJ

seen him on youtube and i know you will say thats not enough but the fact is he still looked decent on there, i am just worried that we arent going to have a good enough squad at the start of the season because so far the only wingers we have are jj and sedgewick and gary roberts is going to cost alot so i dont see why we didnt get him in on a free...he cant of been that bad surely.

Youtube is not enough, Belgian 2nd is poor!! We don't want players who aren't that bad, we have had them for 15 years. We want good players, players that will improve the squad, this player clearly wouldn't have else we would have had him.

so Simmo200 what other wingers do you suggest we look at...belgian 2nd is poor yes but so is english 3rd, the only player i can see us improving us on the wing is roberts and i cant see mandaric forking out £500,000 to £700,000 for him aswelll as £300,000 for O Grady.

I don't have a suggestion, but I know signing players just for the sake of it is not the key. Loan players are always available and then we don't have them tied to a 2 + year contract. And trust me, Belgian 2nd is worst than our league.
