Owls complete Batth loan swoop

Wednesday have completed a loan swoop for young Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth.

Batth had been widely tipped for a return to Hillsborough this summer after enjoying a successful loan stint with the club last season.

He arrives at Wednesday on loan initially until January 2012, but that deal could be extended until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old made ten appearances under Owls boss Gary Megson on loan last season and made a positive impression on Owls fans during his short stay.

Batth had been featuring for Wolves in their pre-season matches so far this summer while boss Mick McCarthy weighed up who to keep at Molineux and who to let go elsewhere on loan to continue their development.

The youngster is expected to form a partnership alongside Rob Jones, the Owls captain, in the centre of defence next season and could feature in Saturday's home friendly against Stoke City.

Great news and I'm a bit surprised if I'm being honest as I thought he'd go up a level to Championship now. Feel a bit sorry for Beevers and Beast of Benin who probably won't get as many games as they'd like this season.

This could see the back of Reynolds, which would hopefully see us get some cash for much needed winger/strikers !

I think Reynolds place is at left back fighting it out with Bennett. I'm not sure we needed another central defender in to be honest as we've been sound there in pre-season. It's obvious where our problems lie at present.

I dont particularily mind the Batth signing he will bring a solid partnership as we've seen from last season and competition which will hopefully improve the likes of beevers and reda.. Megson has always played with defensively sound. Sides but theres no doubt don we really do need strengthen attacking options .. If Madine and johnson were to get injurys early in the season ....

Just saw that Steve 'I can score a bucket load of goals from penalties but not much else' Mclean has signed for Yeovil - can't wait for that game!

Well he was at Plymouth last season and didn't cause us any problems!
TheDon1974
quality signing we were looking solid in pre season anyway this will just strengthen us more now we need wingers and strikers hopefullly get someone in by the stoke game i see clinton not in the squad again tonight maybe this says something ?

I saw that about Clinton too and if he doesn't play against Hallam FC tomorrow then something is wrong!

cracking decent partnership in place again. we have to sign some attacking players now though surely
