Owls look to match Le Fondre valuation
Wednesday are expected to return to Rotherham United with a new and improved bid for star striker Adam Le Fondre this week.
Owls boss Gary Megson turned his attentions to the 24-year-old Millers man last week to bolster his squad's firepower but saw an initial bid, understood to be £200,000, turned down by the League Two side.
Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart said the bid 'was not worth taking seriously' and Wednesday may have to match the Millers' valuation of at least half a million for Le Fondre's services.
The Owls are leaving a late to add a new striker to their squad with the big kick-off just days away.
Wednesday have already seen a bid for Rochdale hitman Chris O'Grady turned down and are understood to be out of the running for Norwich City's out-of-favour striker Cody McDonald.
Now Le Fondre, who bagged 24 goals for the Millers last term, is the main target ahead of Saturday's opener at home against Rochdale.
