Le Fondre situation - from a Miller

WITH the Adam Le Fondre rumours set to continue this week, we get the lowdown on the situation from the Rotherham United end from Vital Millers writer herringthorpe.

The Owls have already had a bid turned down for Rotherham's star man, while there has also been reported interest from Championship clubs Coventry City and Leicester City.

Scottish Premier League giants Celtic were also linked with his services today - whether that is just paper talk or not nobody knows.

The rumours over his future are set to continue for the rest of the month, so we spoke to herringthorpe from Vital Rotherham United to get her thoughts on the current situation...

She told us: 'Rotherham United fans have been hearing rumours about Adam Le Fondre for months now - probably since this time last season. You'd be amazed how many clubs have been watching him - allegedly.

'We do know that the Owls put in two bids for Alfie, both a lot under what the club are expecting. There have also been bids from both Leicester City and Coventry City with Huddersfield said to be interested in him too.

'One of the rumours, in the summer, was that Millwall had put in a £650,000 bid and had it turned down, but I can't really see that if I'm honest. I would think £500,000 is what we are expecting to get - or what he's worth to us - because we also have to give a percentage to Rochdale where we got him from. Of course, it could be that we get a smaller fee and a player in exchange.

'If Alfie should stay with us until the end of the season we will be letting him go for free, which isn't what we should be looking at I don't suppose, but, on the other hand, if he scores us the goals that take us up, maybe we won't mind so much, eh?

'My own thoughts, and I stress these are my own, is that if he goes anywhere then it will be to Leicester City - but not until after we play them on Tuesday in the Carling Cup.

'Andy Scott has said that he has Alfie is in his plans for the team and he played as one of the three up front on Saturday - but on the other hand he's brought in a number of new strikers.

'I think Alfie will be missed but probably not as much as he would have been this time last season.'

So not only are the board at Rotherham delussional, but the fans are too if the STILL think he's worth more than £300k.

Does she remember Steve Downes?
OurMaurice
No but i remember Larry May from Barnsley a defender we were afters for ages who was awful.
Radon Barrier
I'm confused now. Does this mean herringthorpe and Radon Barrier are one and the same? And how did Barnsley gatecrash the discussion? Besides, the Tykes are forgiven for all past transgressions in my book on account of them 'giving' us Hirsty. Millers? Nah, they still have a lot to answer for. As for Larry May? You'll get no argument from me, but we seemed to be going through a phase back then of rescuing donkeys.

I do remember Steve Downes, OurMaurice And, no, I'm not Radon - I'm just me! What about Sedgey OurMaurice - we taught him all he knows!
herringthorpe
Now i'm confused. Maybe they sent him as revenge for the time we pushed their wall over . Does anyone remember that. The only other rotherham player I can think of them sending us was mark robbins, just as he turned into mark bobbins
Radon Barrier
Hmm, this ALF is starting to sound like a risk now. There's obviously no-one at Rotherham we can trust.
OurMaurice
Just awaiting confirmation that Rotherham taught Chris O'Grady everything he knows!
