Wednesday could be set to land a striker from Championship side Leicester City this week if reports are to be believed.
Owls boss Gary Megson, a former manager of the Foxes, is desperate to add more attacking options to his squad before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month and reports have pointed towards a deal for a City hitman this week.
Experienced striker Steve Howard has been linked with a move to Hillsborough but he's expected to be out of the running of a move to S6, with Championship sides Leeds United, Derby County and Portsmouth all after his services.
It means the Owls could be after one of Martyn Waghorn, Jeffrey Schlupp or Yann Kermorgant, to bolster their attack.
French striker Kermorgant is way down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium and is surplus to requirements with City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan in France after he came in for abuse following a penalty miss in the Foxes' play-off semi final defeat against Cardiff City at the end of the 2009-10 season.
Waghorn and Schlupp both featured for Leicester in their weekend defeat against Reading but both could fall down the pecking order if Eriksson gets his wish and brings a top new striker to the club before the end of August.
Schlupp started at the weekend but failed to make an impact after netting a hat-trick in his Foxes debut in the Carling Cup triumph over Rotherham United. Eriksson has said he could well be a key player in his side's promotion bid, but he may also look at a loan move away from the club as being beneficial for the striker.
Former Sunderland man Waghorn seems to be behind Schlupp in the pecking order, he started on the bench at the weekend, and seems to be out of favour with Eriksson.
With Darius Vassell set to return from suspension and a new striker set to arrive at the King Power Stadium shortly, all three of the above players could be surplus to requirements.
Owls chairman Milan Mandaric could help swing a deal in Wednesday's favour thanks to his links with the Foxes.
And he'll be hoping something can be sorted sooner rather than later following Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth at the weekend.
