Nothing creative in midfield, no threat up front, tactics that would do Dave Bassett proud. I predicted Megson would be out within six weeks then changed that to 5 weeks. Wrong on both counts. Megson will be gone in a fortnight. Being a Wednesdayite is NO qualification to being Manager.

You can't accuse someone who uses "Megson_Out" of having any hidden agendas, although the themes do wear thin pretty quickly. Is it true this character's appearance coincided with the mysterious disappearance of "Irvine_Out"? Perhaps he's like a phantom gremlin of cyberspace, inserting repetitive comments guaranteed to antagonize. Fair enough then. Just try to make them a little more constructive, will you? Who would you bring in? We need to know. Being a Wednesdayite is NO qualification for being a pillock.

Been watching Wednesday since '77 and apart from some glory days under Wilkinson, Atkinson, Francis and Sturrock, you need to be a propper 'pillock' to stick with Wednesday as I have and will till I die. He's had opportunities other manager's can only dream of with Mandy's cheque book and a whole summer to instill some effective tactics but last night proved again he can talk a good game but can't make it happen on the pitch. Can anyone give me constructive reasons why he should stay?

Okay, well first off I'm not questioning your loyalty or devotion to the club, we're all pillocks if you put it like that. But I think slagging off the manager before he's even had a chance to turn things around is at best short sighted and at worst unrealistic. As far as I can make out there is no one individual at the club today who can take full responsibility for Wednesday's current situation but I'd like to think everyone connected with the club is pulling together in an attempt to improve things. I don't really want to get started about the state of football in this country right now, from the national team to the premier league and below. Let's just agree things have changed a lot from '77 when you started following the Owls and '67 when I did. We're still here because we've tied ourselves to the club, the badge and the shirt, and because we're pillocks. Players come and go. Managers come and go. Owners? Well MM is our first and I kinda hope he's going to stick it out and maybe achieve a few goals even if he doesn't manage to finish what he's started. Without having the figures to hand I reckon he's already invested more money than most of us could ever imagine and that was just to keep the show on the road. He's brought his own man in, GM, and he's already proved his willingness to back his judgement. I hope he also understands that change takes time. I'm just as disappointed as everyone else at our unspectacular start after so much early promise, and I bet that's nothing compared to Meggo's disappointment. But moaning about it won't help. Our manager won't hide from the truth and he'll be working hard to put things right. If he's signed a contract for three years then I sincerely hope MM allows him the full term to prove his worth rather than sack him as a knee jerk response to fans' frustrations. We're back in Division 3 as was. It's tough down here, the demands are different too. You can't simply buy your way out and I'm sure MM realizes that. We have a manager with a proven record and close ties to the club, we have a degree of financial stability and a colossal fan base that's the envy of all but a few clubs in the country. That gives us somewhere to start, doesn't it? So call off your vendetta, huh? And change your name while you're at it....

Just one more point (on the off chance anyone scrolls down and gets to read this) GM arrived after the January transfer window, during the summer he's managed to sign four freebies, three loaners, Lines (50k) and O'Grady (any guesses?). He's sold players too and made it known the club are unwilling to pay unrealistic transfer fees or break the present pay structure. I'm pleased about that on both counts. However, I doubt any of that means he's wasted opportunities other managers can only dream about.

i don't think any judgements should be made on GM or the players until a minimum of 10 league matches have been played and then assess where we are, top 6 would be acceptable. If we win the next 2 homes games that would be 9 points from 5 games which would be fine unless there's a repeat of Tuesday's performance in which case we won't win a sausage and things will be far from fine!! Talking of Tuesday, can anybody think of a any match ever where the away support outnumbered the home??
