Former Owl Hinds handed Crewe trial

Former Owls player and diehard Wednesdayite Richard Hinds has been handed a one-week trial with League Two side Crewe Alexandra.

The 31-year-old was released from his four-year spell at Hillsborough in the summer and Crewe boss Dario Gradi will take a look over the defender over the next week.

Hinds played in Crewe's reserves in their 1-0 victory over their Notts County counterparts on Monday.

Alex are keen to bolster their defensive ranks after suffering a poor start to the campaign, losing all five competitive matches so far this term.

Hinds made 75 appearances for the Owls following his move from Scunthorpe United.

I'm with you Skeggy, yes he wasn't stand-out but he never let us down and think he's better than Reda in all truth.

i went to school with him. He's a top lad, a solid DC, a Wednesdayite through and through and I can't get my head around why we have got cack like Reynolds and the "risky" - always prone to giving away a penalty - R.Johnson - in the squad, when Hinds was a Mr Dependable/solid "squad" player who loved the club. I'm sure this lad would have taken less £ to keep playing for the club he loves. It's my understanding he was paid less than many of us might think. Good look at Crewe Hindsy.
